If you hate mornings, this routine is for you. It does not require a journal, a stretch, or a smoothie. It requires one light, two minutes, and the same time each morning.
The light
Any bright light. A daylight lamp. A south-facing window. The light does not need to be natural; it needs to be bright enough that you cannot comfortably look at it directly.
The two minutes
Sit in front of the light for two minutes. Do not look at a screen. Do not look at your phone. The light is the stimulus. The eye sends the signal.
The same time
The light only works if it is the same time each morning. The suprachiasmatic nucleus — the body clock — responds to timing, not intensity.
A two-minute routine that survives the year is worth more than an hour-long routine that survives the week.
